Hey everybody new here, was looking for some tech info.Planning on putting a 4.5 roughcountry lift on my 95,was wandering if I'll be alright with 32x12.50 and whatchanges will have to be made as far as drop brackets ,pitman arm and such.Just basicaly going for looks not going to be doing any rocking, would just the add a leaf in the rear be sufficent or should i go the extra $ and get the complete new spring kit, remember not really going for performance.

Thanks

32"s will be tight with 4.5" of lift, but it can be done. You shouldn't have to do any other mods except some slight trimming of the plastic fender flares. Make sure the kit includes a drop pitman arm.

The AAL will ride stiffer than a full spring pack. The AAL is easier to install, especially if you keep the main leaf mounted to the jeep.

Welcome to jeepz, and good choice on Rough Country for an inexpensive lift that'll serve you pretty well.

Does the kit come with new lower control arms?

I know your know going for performance but I would still recommend changing those out for a good set.

Also, if this XJ is cherry, you should also be aware of what some people have called the "death wobble" on lifted XJ's.
Some have experianced a violent steering wheel shake after lifting.
When I put on my Rusty's 3" AAL, I also took the time to change out the sway bar bushings and the upper control arm bushings and new lower control arms. I have had excellent results and a good smooth ride at all speeds.

Also, with the 4.5 " if the kit does not already come with it, you will need to either swap out your rear brake line and I suggest the TC lowering kit which is real cheap and helps with the severity of your drive line angles.

I like rough country, they are all made my Heckethorn which is good quality.

PS: Check those front coil spring bump stops, now is the time to change them also.

Welcome to the board and keep us updated with pics!!!!

You should toss out the track bar bracket and buy an adjustable trackbar. Rough country makes/sells them or check out Rusty's Offroad.

Those trackbar relocation brackets are horrible and in my opinion should not even be sold. They will cause "bump steer" which if you install it you'll know what I mean. I have the same height lift on my XJ and have been through it.

You'll be okay with 32's on your '95 XJ if you don't plan on going 4 wheeling but if you plan on doing any offroad at all you might want to consider trimming the fenders or getting some type of cut-out flares like Bushwhacker or Rustys. If not the tires will rub when in off camber situations.

You will not need a drop pitman arm for 4.5", but you will need a transfer case lowering kit. I believe they come with those kits. If not you should buy one to install when you lift it or your driveshaft will be at too steep of an angle and you'll have bad vibrations at the transfer case output (slip yoke).

Make sure you get a front end alignment ASAP after the install
. Sounds like you're doing it yourself... make sure you soak all the bolts down with PB Blaster every day until you do it. you'll thank yourself for it.

Hoop, sounds like your well on the right track!

Re: turn signal swith

I want to claify that track bar brackets work fine on some vehicles (like the Jeep YJ for instance), but on XJ's they move the trackbar downward and to the driver's side. This centers the axle but puts the steering geometry even worse off than before it was installed.

Buying a 1999 XJ ... Needing lift suggestions
