D30 retainer clip???

Anyone here testing the strength of the old D35 with some big ol tires? I know they will only hold 33s but I've seen a lot of people push em to their max with 35s. I'm probably goin to see how panzy these things are by putting on a set of 34x12.50s. When is DC gonna get rid of the ol POS D35s?

A D35 will hold up to 35' tires for most light off roading. It is when you start pushing them like for rock crawling or heavey torque demanding type of driving you will see them fail.

I drive mine like a ricer. haha. I'll tell my jeep handles better than my mom's saab. I'm sure I'd completely demolish my D35 with some 35s.

One way to find out, Put em on and go see what they can handle. There is a kinda funny ol boy lives here in town. He has an ol CJ5 Renegade all up in the air running 44 Ground Hawgs on a Dana 30 up front and an AMC 20 in the rear. Now he aint no big trail riden jeeper but he has had em rolling a long time. Several years anyway. So go for and drive like you sold it! tug

i am running 36 swamper TSL's on my 35 and it has hads only one major break so far. one of the carrier gears gernaded taking out the other carrier gears when it went. i have yet to break an axle shaft BUT i do take it pretty easy when in four low on the old axle. damn i cant wait to get my 9inch and 44 under there.

I ran 36" swampers on a dana35 for 3 years. 4,000rpm clutch dumps were a regular occurance and I never had a single axle failure. Broke 2 transmissions, 3 transfer cases, 4 driveshafts, probably 12 u-joints, and sheared the locating pins off the axle twice.....but never could break that little POS d35!
