This isn't super technical and more just a report with a basic question so I put it here rather than in the tech section. So I was out wheelin'/working all last week in eastern Neveda, which was awesome. I highly recommend the wheeling, scenery and geology (for those so inclined) along the Nevada/Utah border. Specifically the Ruby Mountains and the Snake Range (near Great Basin Nat. Park). Don't have pics to post at the moment but I may get some online soon. I went with a colleague/friend out to the area to do some geology and we took my jeep since our department suburbans were to large to get around on most of the trails in her field area. It was definitely a good choice and we had a blast crawling all over the range in the jeep and collecting a lot of rocks.
Anyhow, while driving out there from L.A. I started to lose my clutch and it turned out that the master cylinder needed replacing, which kinda sucked especially since the only nearby part came from a stealership and cost $225. Anyhow, when you're 10 hours from home and on a schedule there isn't much choice so I have a new master cylinder. In my attempts to keep the clutch alive, since pumping the pedal was helping to keep it in gear, I blew out the rubber pedal cover. My brake pedal cover is also a little worse for wear. I'm tempted to by something a little fancier than just a rubber replacement but I really don't want something that isn't grippy. Anybody use those metal pedal covers and have any opinions? Or any other recommendations.
