Wheel spacers and what else?

I have recently purchased a set of 2" wheel spacers to widen out my lifted '82 CJ 5. I know this adds a bit more stress underneath, and wondered was there any additions or changes to the underneath that would help with this added stress?

Thanks for your help

Not sure I would have gone that route but if you are just go till you have a problem. May never be one. If there is go with one piece axels or beefyer diffs. tug

2" spacers seem like they would be a lot of stress on the axles. Not much you can do to reinforce things but to install 1piece axle shafts in the rear D20.

In the long run, maybe look for stronger wider axles to upgrade to. Check out the Wagoneer (SJ) for the HD AMC20 rear axle and D44 front axle, good upgrade for extra width and strength, but you'll need 6lug rims.

yeah, there is really nothing you can do.. the strain is on the hubs and on the wheel bearings... there are no parts made to reinforce them

a wheel with a different offset would have been a slightly better choice only cause the portion of the wheel that bolts to the axle is closer to the center mass. but still would put excess stress on the wheel bearings and seals.

Well, I thought I was doing good, and since I have posted this, I feel like I have a third eye.. Should I not put them on and get offset rims instead?

thx

I'd say run 'em and see how they do. Worse case scenario is you spin the 2-piece axle, which would be time to do the upgrade to 1piece axles. Could break lug nuts, but those are easily replaced.

Did the spacers come with any warnings about onroad or offroad use?
