what's wrong with the a/c

[98 Jeep]

I have a 98 JGC. While we all know how excessively hot it was last week, I think the a/c should have been much colder than it was. Cold air was coming out but it never got to the point where it cooled me down. I drove 5 miles and I was almost soaked.

Could it be I need more coolant added, or the compressor, please tell me it isn't the compressor, don't have that kind of money.

Could be a leak. Start with a can of R134A recharge it and see how it goes from there.

LGR is right, but with that, try to wash your A/C radiator (the small one) with water (outside only). it may be dirty and not allow air to pass.
