Happy thanksgiving. My friend was given a lot of axles he has d 60s and d44s What would I have to do to fit them on my tj is it just a matter of cutting off the brackets from my 30 and 35 and rewelding them on the 44 or do I Have to buy some kind of install kit that has new shockmounts control arm brackets and coil spring seats? I can get the axles for almost nothing so I am willing to spend a little if needed for the swap Thanks

you can buy the install kit but its about 300 bucks for brackets that you allready have on your old axles, im doing the same thing with a pair of D44's and im just cuttin gthe old brackets off and putting them on the new axle

Make sure the axle you get for the front is driver's side diff, they're less common.

Take good measurements and sketches before you cut off the old brackets, you'll need to place them precisely. May be easier to buy brackets and save the old axle for measuring and reference.

hey bounty where would you measure from if the diffs are both different? i was going to do mine myself but decided to let someone do it when i am ready, but out of curosity where is the measureing point?

usually the standard measurments are from the backing plate or the inner part of the knuckle on the front. if you are unsure about where to put everything on the axle i would take the old axles out and test fit the new ones to ensure proper placement of brackets.

i have tried reuseing bracket and it is pretty hard to cut them off without destroying them. for the price just buy new brakets they arnt that expensive.

Use the backing plates for the rear, and ball joints for the front to find the exact center of each axle. I'd measure everything from this center point, as the axles will be different lengths. This will ensure the axles are centered under the jeep.

even with the mechanical confidence i have, i would take it to a professional to do the coil spring setup... changing over for leaf springs would be no problem.. but the links have to be too precise on the coil setup for me to deal with them

jeepdude i need a d44 front axle off of a wagoneer with passenger side diff. Does he have any??

i dont know how hard it is all i know is that youhave to weld the perches on, but if your going to be doing the front and rear why dont you do a spring over conversion also?
one other thing the waggie axle i have has a driver side diff not a pass side diff.
