PEACHTREE CITY, Georgia (AP) -- A blind man was charged with reckless conduct after he drove a golf cart through the city with help from an inebriated friend, police said.

Samuel McClain, 35, drove two miles through winding streets -- also accompanied by his guide dog -- before running into a parked car, police said.

No one was hurt, but McClain and Michael Johnston, 47, were charged with reckless conduct "due to the blatant disregard for public safety," according to police reports.

The report said McClain drove the cart Saturday while Johnston gave directions after having six or seven beers.

Peachtree City, about 25 miles south of Atlanta, has about 80 miles of paved cart paths and 9,000 registered carts that residents use for daily errands.

Wasn't there a song with a line in it, something like "arrested for driving while blind".

Also, anyone remember a movie called "If you could see what I hear"? In it a blind guy did the same thing in his buddies convertable. I think Marc Singer was in it.

Last fall a friend of mine drove a golf cart while temporarily blinded (drunk as a skunk) up on to the porch of our hunting cabin. It was quite entertaining because it required a dead on run to climb the four feet of steps. You should have seen the look on the other guys faces the next morning when they came out and saw a golf cart on the porch.
It was almost as funny as the time another guy drove his brand new Polaris Sportsman 700 on to the hood of our old 81 Suburban 2500.
Backwoods entertainment at it's finest.
