PHILADELPHIA (Oct. 13) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world's biggest retailer, must pay at least $78.5 million for violating Pennsylvania labor laws by forcing employees to work through rest breaks and off the clock, a jury found Friday....Plaintiffs' lawyer Michael Donovan will also seek another $62 million in damages...The Bentonville, Ark.-based company is facing a slew of similar suits around the country. Wal-Mart is appealing a $172 million verdict in a California case and settled a Colorado suit for $50 million.

I also read that the total of all the lawsuits and pending lawsuits related to these illegal labor practices total around $700,000,000. That's a huge chunk of change, even for the big Wally.

My big sis works for them, They need to quit sh--ing on there employees. Until then they should bend over and take it! What goes around comes around!

i worked for them for almost a year and they treat their employees like expandable assets expect you to bust your ass for **** money and dont give you any help to do anything i finally told them to kiss my ass and walked out i hope they get stuck paying all the big bills damn crooks  :D

thats gonna cost'em some bank, maybe they'll have to pay the China workers minimum wage...$1.50 per month.

Hey, here is a thought.. if we go to Walmart and buy cheap imported crap from China, what do the customers in China buy from their WalMart?

How ironic is that?!!??!?

I can't imagine why the WalMart employees here in the US voted out organizing. It just seems like a no-brainer.

hahahhaha if i expressed how they really made me feel i'd have sailors and pirates all blushing and calling the censor police LOL hahah i feel sorry for anybody that works there i dont know how these people put up with it for 10 years even asistant managers have their nuts in a vice from the top shelf .....

ohh man when you get hired they give you a huge lecture on never agree or sign anything if you are approached by a union member blah blah how they are the devil and cost you more in the end ect... drove me nuts with that and the corny videos you watch for days on end they should put a gun with a clip in the room so atleast you can end the suffering some how ..... but we were right beside the lear plant and alcoa which both are UAW so go figure haha :bomb:

A friend of mine used to be in management for wm, and I mean management management, not like "electronics department manager" or some other such bull**** title. Anyway, he admitted to me that it was corporate policy that if a manager hears any talk of an employee or employees discussing the possibility of unionizing, they are to single that employee out and essentially threaten them with their job unless they drop it. Also, he admitted that they intentionally lower prices when they first open new stores so that they are actually losing money until most of their competition in the area has gone out of business, then they raise the prices back up once they're the only game in town. I now avoid walmart whenever possible.

no really you'd be suprised at what they get away with .... they tried to get me to come back and i had a meeting with the store and co store managers and i told them exactly what i felt about the department and management and that they let alot of good employees walk out the door cause they were too cheap and stupid to give them the help and tools they needed hahah they stopped calling after that LMFAO

Of course it is. It's not on paper or anything, but that's what the managers are instructed to do.

If the hint of unions get really bad the manager is instructed to call Bentonville and they send in a team that "runs" the store for awhile until the thread can be sorted out. An ex-manager of 17 years admitted that on film.

I heard on the radio this morning that WalMart just bought China's largest grocery store chain. Jay Leno said they will probably be known as "The Great Walmart of China".
