vibration....not driveshaft related

RE: misc. stuff and factory tj stuff for sale

So i have a 2" bb on my '97 and for a while have thought that my vibrations have been caused by lift and consequently lowered the tcase 1". That fixed the original vibes. They have come back in force recently and i've checked ALL my ujoints and they are not the culprits.

I was playing around yesterday and realized that when the jeep is in PARK, if i rev the engine above 2200-2300 rpms, there is a solid audible vibration coming through the petal and floor.

Took it out for a drive and realized that my vibration has been rpm induces as opposed to speed induced. (everytime it was above 2200, it shook)

Any clue what this could be?

What i know so far (correct me if i'm wrong).... not the tcase or driveshafts, bc it happens in park. Motor mounts look fairly new....

Should i take it to autozone and have them read the codes to see if there is a misfiring cylinder or something to that effect?

There won't be any codes if the check engine light is not on.

Can you see any vibration under the hood when the engine is revved over 2200?

Hi,

Not necessarily true. There are many codes in an OBD-II system which don't light the check engine light when they are set. Of course, codes which DO light the check engine light are more important to the proper operation of the vehicle than those which don't.

Possible, but I've yet to witness pending codes. Of course if they're pending they haven't met the 'puters parameters to throw a hard code. I'm probably off-base here, and I should know better than to debate electrical with you, it's not my strongpoint ;)

If you can't duplicate it from under the hood, sounds like it's further back in the drivetrain.

checked the engine and mounts, doesn't seem to be coming from up there. the mounts are solid and the engine isn't moving around in them much, if any at all. what else could i check to narrow this down?

RE: light bar light wiring routes

I recently read about a problem with Chevy trucks that would also fit in here.. The problem is with the torque converter. same symptoms as you mentioned! I will look into this further and post when I find the service bullitin.

RE: Non-Jeep question, bu trying to help a friend

ahh torque converter, that sounds fun. any word on this jps?
