Tsl boggers

Just bought and installed a set of 33" X 12.50 TSL Boggers on my 87 YJ I bought these mainly for mud use so I knew highway operation would be a bit noisy and rough. the tires are inflatted to max pressure but I was debating lowering the tire pressure to possibly help the higway ride as well as extending tire life.....is this recommeded and if it is what tire pressure is recomended?
any help is appriciated

With my TSL's, I never had it above 18 psi for street driving, fact is though, you have a non-true round, bias tire... not much is going to help, lowering to 18 psi will just make it a little more managable.

it's not a passenger car tire, but once they heat up (remove the flat spots) it is a managable tire to Daily drive, you just need to be aware of that. If you daily drive the vehicle, and comfort is a must, I would avoid bias TSL's. a radial Irok or Truxxus tire is far more civilized on the street.

Honesly, I have Daily driven Bias TSL trucks, The rough ride, vibration, and road wandering never bothered me.

WOW 18 psi!!!!!, glad i asked I was thinking of lowering them to about 40-45psi, of course i am not looking at them right now so i dont recall what the factory inflation rate is, but i know 18psi is cutting more then half

Ya i sorta knew what i was getting into with the bias TSL but this jeep has been an ongoing project & and I has to have the boggers, even if it's just this time around.....all in all they are what i expected them to be on the road....in the mud they are unstoppable

thanks for your help!!!!

you could probably go a little higher if you wanted to, 24 would probably yield a similar ride, but definatley not 40 psi... that would be horrible

18-25psi is what I usually run my bias TSL's at onroad, around 8psi offroad. The Boggers will be loud and roll like they're square onroad, but they're liveable if you know what you're getting into. I run my bias TSL's up to about 4 hours away to the trailhead, but they come off in favor of radials for daily driving.

Well, they are better than anything else I have seen (short of tire chains); but they CAN get stuck! It took 3 winches to get this one out of this:

That is impressive! Do you have any pictures showing the back end? It looks like it is completely buried in the rear!

I wouldn't say fully buried from the background it looks like a muddy hillclimb up out of a ravine where the front tires crested and the Dside dug into mud that wasn't as hard packed which would allow it to give way and fall down hill behind it. This would be a tricky stuck as the axles have probably made contact and I can see 3 winches as they would have to not only pull the jeep up and over but somehow get the rear tires to move in the opposite direction that the winch is pulling to get them out of the holes they've dug into on the hill behind it.

No pictures of the rear; SORRY! But yes, the mud swallowed the 38" boggers like nothing. What we did not count on was the clay UNDER the mud, which is why the Jeep got stuck. This particular bog cost him a broken front axle shaft, a faulty fuel pump (we fixed that after getting him out, but it did not allow him to keep the engine running), a dead batttery (we had to charge it later on), and a blown bead.

Lowered the air pressure on the boggers to 24psi yesterday and what a big differance, but after reading a few other post I think I am going to get a set of M/T radials for everyday use after this years hunting season is over, and save the boggers for weekend mud fun and hunting......if anyone has or knows of a decent used set of M/T radials please send them my way
As always all your help/advice is appriciated

BFG MT KM2's all the way... Decent in mud, great on the road. Put some chains on those babies, and they will give your boggers a run for their money as well!
