Transmission switch

Hi All
we have just purchased our first jeep.
It is a 1989 cherokee LTD with a 4.0

on the dash there is a switch for the transmission that says either Power of Comfort
is this just a gadget or a usefull accesory

I am used to old 4X4 pickups with no gadgets what so ever.

Hi,

It is simply a switch to select the shifting point of the automatic transmission. Comfort sets the shifting point at a lower, more fuel efficient RPM, probably between 2000 and 2500 RPMs, where Power sets the transmission shift point higher (delays it), probably until around 3000 RPMs. :mrgreen:

Of course, Comfort is probably the setting you'd want to use it in for normal driving...
