i have a 1989 jeep xj with a 5 speed transmission.. its making a nasty clicking sound in first so it broke so how.. drives fine just annoying in first.. only makes the sound in first.. any suggests to the cause of the noise would be great.. but my real question is.. what transmission is it? and where is the ID tag on the transmission?

its either a peugeot BA10-5 speed
or a AX-15
or a AX-15

The AX15 has a front and rear case half attached with a 1" thick intermediate plate running side to side. The peugeot BA10/5 has side halves with a seam running front to back.
