trans and shifter questions

so the gf is getting her jeep. 03 with a manual trans.

she's new to manuals, so she'll be learning soon. i know from experience on a friends jeep and on my camaros that the stock shifters in most cars are VERY sloppy and long shifted.

and i definatly beleive that a good short throw, solid shifter is a huge benefit to learning how to drive stick-shift.

i've noticed in Summit that B&M offers an upgraded shifter, although they only list them for YJ/TJ 90-98 with the AX15 trans, or the TJ 99-01 with the NV3550 trans.

i guess so i know what i'm looking for, what is the manual trans that is mated to the 4.0l engine in the 03 TJ??

thanks

RE: A recent trail inciDENT

I've never seen one in any Jeeps. I knew Hurst had them though.
I can see where it would be nice to have one, but it would be pretty low on most Jeeper's wish list. Most guys lean toward winches or trail gear as their first mod. Not much speed shifting going on out on the trail.

I can shift my jeep pretty quickly.... darn near automatic sounding... no need for a short throw

I was considering it, but most of them won't work if you plan on using a body lift. Plus, you get used to it, it gives you a second to take a sip of coffee with your left hand while you're puttin it in gear :)

RE: Jeep 101 - Question from 1st timer

I run a short throw on my YJ, I like it. Mine is the B&M on an AX5 transmission.
