TPS

Cleaned the TPS and in the Haynes manual it says to have the TPS adjusted. Is this something I can do myself?
I noticed when I put it on there was some variation in the rotation it could be put on so that the throttle would make more or less of a difference by pushing the TPS more or less via the throttle linkage. Is this all they would do, matching how far it is deflected to the idle RPMs? Is it more than that? Or do I just don't know what I am talking about (very likely).

I cleaned the TB and idle speed motor connector and TPS connection to help w/ an erratic idle, the engine sometimes feels like it is going to die (doesn't). Also the engine seems to rev slightly on and off every second, not too much, but definately noticeable. I have replaced spark plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor, all fluids flushed (and filled  ). Hope thats enough info. Didn't cure the problem, any ideas?

Thanks,

Kellen

Sounds like a IAC motor issue (idle air control motor) I think it is the same as the idle speed motor.

Hi,

Yes, the TPS is mounted through oval shaped holes so you can pivot it to adjust it. You need to adjust it so that you read about .8 volts between the 5v source and the center wire (output to ECU).

and the Idle air control motor is also known as the IAC motor, Idle speed motor, etc.. all the same device on the TB.
