Do you have an owner's manual?

I'm curious as well, and it may make a difference if you have the tow package. I'm pretty sure the 8.25 rear axle was discontinued for '01, it was the common heavier axle for the tow package. Your tow rating will be lower due to that alone. Is your receiver OEM?

What do you plan on towing?

I don't own the Jeep. A buudy has a Durango and his lease end is comming up. He want's a 01 Cherokee Sprot with a factory tow package to pull his small camper (4500 lbs.). Thanks!

Ya, that is quite a bit of wieght for something small like a Cherokee.

If you plan on pulling very often at all I'd definatly look into something bigger.

According to the FSM Gross trailer weight is 5000 lbs. Tongue weight 750 lbs. This may vary depending on rear axel as mentioned by Bounty Hunter.
