The four door JK

Is it just me or does the four door jeep make you loose your stomach? I cant seem to stand the sight of them let alone the fact that four sit in there comfortably. Tell me your thoughts and maybe I might wave at those horrid car they call a Jeep Wrangler.

There are some things I don't like about the 4-dr. JK, but the number of doors, extra wheelbase, passenger and cargo capacity increase, and overall looks are NOT included in that list.

If they weren't quite so expensive and had better choice of engines (bring back the 4.0L) I would like to have one.

Go ahead and wave...they're still Jeeps!

Ive seen some really good looking Jk's around. I wave to all Wranglers, regardless of YJ, TJ, or JK.

But, most, not all, JK's, will just be grocery getters.

Yeah I have a JK but really didn't like the looks of the 4 doors, just seems strange for a jeep. Having said that there are some that have really nice mods and look really good but I am still trying to figure out how they afford it! I will add stuff to mine once it is paid off so I don't look like a mall crawler!

Thanks for the reminder to wave at us, I am a jeep!

I just wish they called the 4-door something other than a "Wrangler". I guess that's what doesn't sit well with me. I can see why they'd want a Jeep that basically looks like a Hummer, just call it something else...

I had a TJ...but I offroad for work, and I have to carry too much equipment into the boonies, so, the TJ was just too small, despite being able to GET to places, it had to make two trips to CARRY everything...which is impossible when the location is more than a couple of hours away, etc.

So I got an Xterra, which was perfect really, except the front axle was broken into two parts, right from the factory, which sucked, but, I was able to modify it to work well anyway....but I missed JEEPING out into the boonies.

When the 4 Dr JK came out, I was also grossed out, I mean, that's how most classics die...they get bigger every year, until they are to far gone from what they are supposed to be...

But, over time, it grew on me...and, the wife needed a new truck, so I hedged my bet, as SHE liked it, and got the 4 dr JK.

It grew on me more, we both off roaded it, Pine Barrens, Rausch Creek, etc...and it WORKS. It just works off road...I was surprised how well the ******* did...and, now, I'm a fan of them.

I think of it as sort of a Cherokee with a frame.

:D

I agree with teej that they make me think of a xj with a frame. Every time a new model of a automobile comes out there are traditionalists who don't like them because they are different, when the tj came out people didn't like them because the interiors were more "car like" and they didn't ride like a Jeep. Now the jk is out and there are things that people don't like about them(me included) but the plain truth is they are an evolved species. The dome light switch unhooking with the door tether is genius, I have a buddy who owns a 2 door and he has a 3 inch lift and runs 35s, which I think is awesome. The base price of the jk is considerably lower than that of the tj. The single most thing that I hate about the 4 door jk though, is the fact that they make them in a 2 wheel drive version, I understand that a majority of them will never see the dirt and 2 wheel drive will be more fuel efficient but really, this is a Jeep we're talking about, if you want a mall crawler buy a hummer, if you want good gas mileage don't buy a vehicle with the aerodynamic qualities of a brick. A Jeep is a Jeep, let it evolve if you must but don't compromise one of the things that Jeep has always been known for. I know some mjs, xjs, and zjs were 2 wheel drive but never a wrangler, with the exception of the dj. That is all of my rant, thank you for reading.
