the death of torx

with my new tools i have found out the secret to removing trox... IR 235 full reverse w/ about 375 ft/lbs... takes 'em out like nothin... no stripping its great....

If it works that good pull em all and replace em with something worth haven on a Jeep. That way when your out on the trail miles from the IR 235 you can remove em with out a problem as well. I hate trox! tug

They come out even better when you weld a nut to the head of the torx and hit it with an impact. I had to do all my rollbar bolts that way. It's a '78 too, which had the bolts all the way down the side of the Jeep.

When you strip one out, and don't have access to a welder, I take my Dremmel...or a hacksaw if on a trail...and cut a slot in the head. Then take your flat screwdriver and a visegrip to it. Worked every time for me. Plus a old tupperware full of odd bolts to replace the TORX with.

I've been stripping a 91 wrangler for my tub swap and have been dealing with these @#$%$# torx. I think Jeep set it up so only one torx on every hinge, fastener, etc. won't come out.

I really hate it when the clutch needs to be replaced. The @%#$! TORX bolts on the top of the bellhousing are such a pain in the arse to remover... and once you strip the head, you really are up sh*t creek with no paddle.

easy outs and drill bits work wonders with torx bolts.
god i think i went thru 5 diffrent torx bit, wrench, and allen wrench style sets before i finally found some that didn't ben to much to remove the windsheild hinges. and that was after removing (although it's not as easy as that) all that stuff they put around/over/on the nuts on the other side.

by the wat the kit that survived the best was the ones from auto zone. they are OEM (i'm pretty sure that's the brand).
