I have a 84 cj-7 that I am planning to swap in a 350 chevy. I currently have a t-176 transmission in the jeep with the 4.2 motor. I am thinking about putting the th350 automatic in the jeep. I have read about possible clearance problems with the pan. If I have all of the proper adapters for the transfer case and such, will the clearance be a problem? Any input would be appreciated!! Thanks

Hello I have a 1973 cj with a 350 conversion also have the turbo 350 transmission the front driveshaft is verry close to the transmission pan maybe 1\4" away.I dont know how big your driveshaft is but the one in mine is pretty small.I havent had a problem with mine.good luck ,happy trails

If you have a clearance issue, you can have a smaller diameter driveshaft made using thicker wall tubing to retain strength. Factory Jeep front shaft should clear.

thanks for the reply, I have a tom wood custom driveshaft on it now that is 2 inches in diameter. Hopefully I can still use it. What about possibly making modifications to the transmission pan if necessary? Thanks
