Just took 1993 Grand Cherokee Limited for a short test-drive (no plates). 106k on odometer. It drove well. No obvious (to non-mechanical guy) issues. ABS light on. Mechanically inclined seller, when pressed, said it "may be wheel spin indicator" problem but he "hadn't looked into it". Stopped fine under hard braking. Got him down to $1,600 if we do the deal early next week. Would take to mechanic first, but does this seem too good to be true? Body appeared pretty good, interior "ok" for 1993.

ALL COMMENTS GRATEFULLY APPRECIATED!!

see if it has an AW4 auto (93 is the only year for the Grand with AW4 on the 4.0L)

It is all wheel drive. There is a lever to the left of the automatic shifter that I was told can be engaged for 4wd low only (as opposed to AWD). This I take it is bad?

That transfer case is problematic (np249), so it's life expectancy is questionable. You should take several tight turns in a parking lot to really check it out, make sure front driveshaft is still in there.

That price is not too low to believe, that old of grocery getter doesn't bring much these days.

My mechanic told me that ABS problems can get REALLY expensive, I'm not much of a mechanic, but he told me that ABS problems can easily run over a thousand bucks. Just something to think about, good luck to ya if you get it bud.
