Swapping 4cyl for 4.0-HO into an 87 XJ

I have read a ton of articles about swapping a 4.0 into a TJ, etc. But not very many on swapping a 4.0-HO into an XJ. I have a 92 rolled XJ with a 4.0 that has less than 5K on it. I just bought an 87 XJ with a 4cyl in it. I want to do the swap, but I read that you would have to make major modifications to the engine bay in order to do the swap. Such as moving the firewall back, changing the hood mount location, moving the radiator forward about a foot, etc. Is all this true, and what other mods would I have to make to the engine bay? I am going to do a whole drivetrain swap, so I just need info on body modifications. Also, what would be my best source for info on this project? Someone have a site or a book I can look into?

Thanks for your time,
Charles

after seeing many 4cyl jeeps in the junkyard, it doesn't look like you'll have to move the firewall (!!!!??? why would jeep even make 2 different engine bays... not cost effective!) or the radiator... the gap in the 4cyl between the engine and the radiator is enormous!!!! :-)

i'd plan on swapping the whole drivetrain tho... just so you have the newest of all the parts in there...

I agree with Dingus. If you swap everything out, it will provide a nice balance between power and stability.[addsig]
