Stupid star screws on my throttle!

Hi. Sandy's been acting up so I checked her codes and she needed a new throttle position sensor. That was all fine, I was just happy to have her well again..... but the darn screws on the sensor are all messed up! They were in there so tight that they wouldnt turn when I tried to screw them out, they'd just wear down. Is there a tap I can get for it? I had to tap my oil pan last week, so it's no big deal. Kiddies: don't get your license suspended... this is what happens after 3 months! Your Jeep will punish you!!! -Mike :D

Where do you live at in Carbondale? Local or student?

My wife and I were down there for 4 years, great time. She lived in the towers, I lived off-campus behind them, up Park St.

So you got the bolts removed that hold on the TPS, and the holes are messed up, or what exactly?

Check out THIS link, we often wheel in your area and have members in the Carbondale area.

not quite understanding what you are looking to find here...

i can't remember if they are torx or inverse torx... if they are torx, they are a female type reciever and an easy out may help you... if they are inverse torx, you may be able to get away with some needle nose vicers, but it will take forever...

if you can get it to run... i would say to run it to normal temp with the air tube off, which will heat up the screws for you... this may help you a bit

If I am reading this right by wearing them down I am thinkin you have just rounded out the screw heads. If this is the case you may be able to drill and do an ez out thing on them. If memory serves the screws go through the back of the throttle body air intake area. If so and you do drill make it so no drill shaveing drop down in there and cause major problems laters. Don't need no shaveings in the works. Luck man. tug

Torx can be a real pain in the butt, they're slick during installation but removing them seems to always turn into a nightmare. I'm with Tug, seems that an ez out should be able to take them out no problem.

hey Bounty Hunter, where up park did you live? I was at 1005 most of 98-99 and all of 99-00

Bounty: I haven't changed my profile yet. I'm not in Carbondale anymore, I'm back home in the Chicago suburbs. Once I get Sandy up to snuff I'd like to go down to meet some other Jeepers and hit some trail. I was in Boomer III. Tug: can I guy that ez out at Autozone, and if so how much does it cost? I took the throttle body off so I could get a better angle so while I was at it, I cleaned it and boy is it shiny! Is there supposed to be grease or oil in the sensor holes? Thanks a lot, guys! -Mike :D

easy outs are cheap there a few bucks a pop. auto zone might have them.
