spare tire mount

98 Jeep

When i bought this 98 JGC in August it didn't have a spare tie mount. There are 35' tires on this thing and I hate just letting the spare lay down in the back taking up all the room. I've tried bungee cords but after a few days they tend to just snap unless there are some really heavy duty ones out there. I called a guy who does welding and his wife told me he would not be able to make the long screw any longer. Any ideas?

No I don't like how they look on the roof, can u come up with something else? Do they make really heavy duty bungee cords anywhere? These tires are really heavy, how the hell do u get it off the roof? I'm a female and I think that would be quite difficult.

you actually got a 35" to stand up in the back where the mount is? I would see if you could get a custom mount made that swings out on the back, some thing like this

That looks like a pretty good idea but I hate putting holes in the car. I have a beautiful 89 black Firebird with 46,000 original miles, when I bought it brand new I put mud flaps on thinking I was protecting the car but in the end all I got was rust where they were screwed in. Had that fixed and I would rather not see it happen again if I put more holes in the car. I guess I'll just try some heavy duty bungee cords.
