Spare relocation?

I have a buddy that has a Cherokee, 98 I think. He asked me the other day if I knew of a way to mount the full size spare on the back like my 91 Wrangler. I never seen it done before, though I'm sure it has been done by someone in here! Does anyone know how one would go about this? Is there a bracket or something? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Some of the '88 cherokees, like mine, came with a swing out tire mount from the factory (it was an option) :P. Sorry I can't be of more help.

So maybe he could get an old '88 rear bumper with the swing out on there already... maybe from a junkyard, would it fit on a 98? I'll let him know of the two options, Thanks!

I'm not sure if the bumpers are interchangeable? If he could find just the tire swing from an older cherokee he could adapt it to fit his bumper. All you need are two holes for the latch, and the two mounting brackets for the swing part. I'll post some pics of mine soon so you can see what I mean....

Here's some photos of the stock spare tire holder's mounting points at the bumper and side of the Jeep:

Hope that helps
