Smugglers cave for beginners.

Hello again to all my off road homies!

So I found this place I'd like to try with my wife, It's called SMUGGLERS CAVE and its located out side due east of San Diego. It's a trail that stock 4x4's can get through and with a small hike you can see historic cave's BUT there is a little thing I have an issue with... It's real close to the Mexican boarder so there was a warning of illegals roaming and to be careful of not wandering off trail. So am I over thinking this or would others be leary of going by their self as well for the first time? it also said heavy boarded patrols around but still. We are planning to drive it Dec. 11 so if any body is local who is down OR if you wanna just go and meet up HIT ME UP!!! it looks pretty cool. afterwards we're gonna hang and maybe have a margarita or two!!
Cheers, Sickboy

No way would I go alone that close to the border with the way things are these days nor would I go without being heavily armed even if in a group. The larger the group the better. You're just asking for trouble.

If you have to hike in you stand a pretty good chance of coming back to an empty parking space too.

Maybe try someplace a little further north instead. There are so many places to go without the risk of getting shot or hijacked. Better safe than sorry. I mean. look at what happened to that couple who were on jet skis. They killed her husband. They killed all the of the police that were investigating it and they have never recovered his body.

I don't live in the area but what I would suggest is that you find a local Jeep club and talk to them. They will have the information you'll need for where to go that's not only safe, but legal and FUN!! It will also give you folks to wheel with who know the ropes.

The place that you're wanting to go sounds interesting, no doubt. I love to explore, which is why I love my Jeep so much but the thought of becoming a target for some drug runner scares the bee-jeebers out of me.

Too bad you're not out here near Tennessee, I'd take you out trail riding with our club!
