I was stuck for about two hours the other day up to my floor boards. I Had just changed my rear diff fluid and there was no sign of water just black oil. But I had never sat in water that long. My question is does any water make it into the transmission five speed 99tj. I have this scything noise coming from there its only when I am accelerating and shifting but stops once mmy speed is constant. I am not sure if its the clutch or what. so does water leak in after more than a couple minutes

just to be safe change your front diff, transmission, and t case fluids. By the way, the differential shouldnt have been black

the black oil could have been from it breaking down from heat, it could be from worn metal particles, or it is most likely contaminated by dirty water entering your diffs at some point

CHANGE THAT TRANSMISSION OIL NOW!!! use a GL3 oil like penzoil syncromesh

Jeepdude, if you find that synchromesh around here let me know.

The transmission breather is where the shifter enters the transmission under the shoft boot, and it's the only way for water to get in. Was it that deep?

I'd change both diffs, transmission, and transfer case fluid.

yup it came runnin out looked good enough to drink yum I love chocolate milk lol
