This is the way mine turned out on the shifter. I used an into the end mount handlebar Sun Tour Bicycle Shifter. I bought it for $5.00 at a local shop. then I cut off a piece of an old set of handlebars for a mounting tube. I used a mig welder to spot weld this to the shifter and keep it cool wth a spray bottle of water. It only took a couple of good spots to keep it on there as not that much pressure will be on it. The shifter just sets down inside the tube and you rotate the shifter about 1/2 a turn or less to set it in nice and tight.
Next you run the 6 foot cable through the shifter and slide it into the 5 foot cable houseing. I had these cut coustom and the best quality that they had. I think it was like another $5.00 I do not know for sure as I bought several other items that day and we just settled on a 25.00 price for all. Spray a light lithum greese on the cable as you feed it into the houseing to give a nice smooth movement.
Fish you cable out through the Shifter boot under the jeep and over the transmission to the drivers side of the fire wall and into the engin compartment, then route it over to the drivers side of the throttle body where the foot throttle is hooked up. There was a square hole there in the frame beside where the orginal throttle cable hooked up, so
at that point I used two flat steel fender washers about 1" with a small hole the same size as my .50 cent shifter cable adjuster form the same shop. I place a washer on either side of the square hole and placed the adjuster threaed end towards the throttle body and locked it in place with a nylon locking nut. Washers and nut 35 cents.
On my throttle body theere was a headed pin in place perfect for anchoring the cable end. I just got the houseing nice and tight and looped the cable around the existing pin set it nice and thight and crimped it into place with an electrial wireing crimp conector. cut off the extra cable and there it was. I set it nice and tight so when it streches it will have plenty of adjustment from the bicycle adjuster. There wa enough tension to cause it to idel slightly fast so I added a helper spring to pull it back to closed and it ideled fine.
The above is a close up of the shifter / throttle mounted. It is set in about a half throttle position there. the shifter will lift very ez and has resistance in the dow stroke so it stays where you put it. so if you are jumping off another car or truck you can set up you rmps and it will hold where you set it. Can also be used on the hwy. as a manual cruise control.
The above pic is of the under the hood end of the thing. It is so simple and it works so good. start to finish once I had the parts in hand 45 mins tops. I hope that this is a help if I have confused you please let me know and I will try to help you out. Tug :-D
