rolling resistance

greetings all...
we have a 97 TJ 4" lift maxxis tires(large) and a couple other goodies
the suspension is very stiff... working on a solution for that as soon as i know the spung weight so i can buy the right springs.

HAND UP...
last year we pulled it behind our motorhome and it seemed like an anchor.. most likely due to the tires.

is there a good tire that offers decent performance offroad and low rolling resistance for towing? planning a long trip this summer and plan to take the jeep for a runaround... and to play a little.

oh i pictured you running bigger than that if it felt like an anchor, maybe its because the suspension is so stiff?

It is a brick. No aerodynamics.
Possibly unhook the front DS.
Make sure your pressure is correct.
Get a trailer??

stiff suspension would make it tow like a brick? hadnt looked at it that way... but you could be right. got it last spring.. played with it a little last summer... wanted to soften the suspension a bit anyway.

smaller tires... yep... any particular brand or style that would work for light off-road and pull behind a moho?
we don't have a trailer that can haul the jeep. spent a butt-load on the tow-bar setup so i didn't have to buy a trailer or dolly.

i think it could use an alignment too.. something i am planning to do in the next couple months

bfgoodrich long trail t/a are good, i run them, i think they are perfect for light trails and good street performance, and you figure theres alot of weight back there and if that weight is absorbed like your shocks are made of wood blocks, it might make the ride a little rough lol

Bridgestone APT4 is also a good one. Its a more aggressive highway tire without the loud roar.

They do feel like the are made of wood... hmmmm
what shocks do you run? I figure a rancho with adjustable dampening would be a good swap.
We run coilover airshocks on our rails... they minimize body roll.

uuh... id have to look i let a shop put mine on last year ago, they are sort shocks only stock height, i hope they still work good when i get my jeep back with the lift today
