Any suggestions on side rocker panels? I'm looking at the Tomken Rocker Skids, the Tomken Skids, or Warn Rock Sliders. Any guidance would be much appreciated. ~Jeff [addsig]
Warn's got the best price. What about Sun Performance? Had mine made out of angle iron, 1/4"x4"x4"x56", had the ends tapered underneath and bolted them up. Strong as can be, and you can weld 2"x2" the entire length if you want a step or stand-off.
Bounty, i like the setup, but just one question. How did you bolt it up? Did you drill through those holes and bolt there, or was there something else that I didnt see where you bolted it?[addsig]
Yep, center punch to mark the holes in the body, then drill. Mount with grade 8 bolts, the rearmost is long cuz it goes through the lower seatbelt support.
Finished pic looks about the same, with shiny gold bolt heads where the holes are. You can paint those for a little less Bling-Bling
3/8's angle baby! I found 2 length at an old job, and had the machine shop there cut them to the length I needed to slap up to my already rock cleared panels. WAY strong! The angle (more of an L ) extends under the body 3" and goes up the body 4" Nuttin gonna bend them bad boy's! I have pictures, but don't have a website to pull them from.
Their not overkill for the stuff I get my self into.
Yeah, there's just a little weight there also. However, my T-18 with the granny first doesn't care. I pull my Jeep to all the area's I wheel, because it's geared to low for HWY driving. (top sp of 62.5mph)
Whats left to armor on my jeep now is the rear quarter panels. (although both have "rock clearance's" bashed into them already)
I considered 1/4" looked to flimsey for me. If anybody really get's into serious rock crawling, I beleive they should invest in a good set of rocker guards if they don't want body damage. Anything will be betterr that nothing. I just happened to have access to the 3/8" If it wasn't there, then I'd have used the 1/4" that was available at the time as well.
