researching Lifts for XJ

got a Question in my research on XJ Lifts.

Which would be better?

5.5 lift kit.

or SOA in the rear and 5.5 coils for the front


any cons on the later??

I don't believe I've ever heard of an XJ that wasn't Spring over axle in the rear.

yeah, the rear springs ar SOA in the stock form. 5.5" of lift will require other mods (control arms, SYE), but you could clear a set of 33's!

yeah thats my thinking too, plus SOA can be dangerous if done wrong... get the new springs....

The rear is SOA from the factory, so you'll need a lift with 5.5" coils and leaf packs. 5.5" is quite a bit for the stock control arm mounting geometry (short arm). That much lift is best done with a conversion to long arms. Too many bad driving characteristics onroad and off with tall springs and steep control arms.
