RC Nitro 9000 series shocks

I'm still soaking up information so please forgive all the questions.

I was reading reviews about the Rough Country 9000 shocks being fairly stiff on the trail and that the 8000 series shocks would be actually better. Has anyone delt with either? Pro's and Con's? Looking at the 4" X-Series Lift for the 99 wrangler.

IMHO, a shock is a shock. they are really only designed to dampen the ride and contribute to the quality of the ride. unless your blasting down the wash boards of baja, you can run super expensive by-pass shocks or cheap napa specials and I am sure you will not be able to tell the difference. basically the different models and design has to do with the charge and the valving. In the grand scheme of things, the differences in say a nitrogen vs Hydraulic charged shock will only be come evident as the shock ages. one will fatique quicker and offer less ride quality. but we're talking years.

I have run tons of shocks on my 4x4 vehicles, Bilstiens, Rancho, skyjacker, Monroe, superlift and just about every cheap shock you can buy at napa or autozone. For my daily driver/tow rig, at 180,000 miles I still use the factory spec bilstien shocks, for my trail rig, cheapest shocks I can find. (7 year old used skyjackers in the front and stock replacement autozones in the rear)

Thanks for the input. I had found an article on the net with someone who had installed the Rough Country 4" lift and said the 9000 series shocks where pretty stiff on the bumps and that the down grade to the softer 8000 would be better. I didn't know if it mattered or not.
