Hi
I have decided to rebuild my 258, the rear seal wont seal any more because the crank is worn past the "sealable clearance" says JEEP. (found a hairline groove around where the seal meets it. ) plus ive relaced it 3 times now, cleared the PCV just in case, and it leaks like a faucet everytime
SUX!!
has 190K miles so i might as well redo the whole thing..

So anyway Ive never had to take out an engine before, cant imagine its too difficult, i worry about matching all the vac. lines and contaminating the new engine while installing it..

Any suggestions, advice would be great!

thanks

you might be able to bore it to a 3.88 bore... i'm not sure if there is enough wall to clear that... but it might be possible... if you do that... you can get yourself a 4.5... and the 3.88 piston should be quite availible considering that it is a stock 4.0 piston. while its out.. you might want to consider swapping on a 4.0 head to increase the flow... then, with that, you can add the 4.0 fuel injection[addsig]
