question about 2" procomp susp lift

Anyone have it? Instructions recommend replacing the steering stabilizer with part #219200 and state that a pinion angle cam kit may be required to adjust rear pinion angle. And I thought the 2" kit was just a simple shock and coil replacement and all the parts were included. How do I know if I need the cam kit?

If this is for a TJ, why not just get 2" coil spacers.

Either way, other than longer shocks you shouldn't "need" aything else. "pinion angle cam kit", is that a transfer case lowering kit? I wouldn't think you'd need it for 2" on a TJ or any other jeep (except maybe a 97-newer XJ).

Install it, drive it, and see for yourself before you buy anything else.

the stock coils werent in good shape neither were the shocks so i got the 4 coil and 4 shock system. I think if it was a transfer case lowering kit thats what theyd call it.

Yeah I guess they would have. I see what you mean now, sorry 'bout that - I never heard of them. Still, I would hold off and install the kit first, you may not even have to worry about it.

Is that a shim system for tilting the rear pinion up a little to reduce driveline angle? Or am I way off here?

looks like adjustable control arms just kinda tweek the driveline angle a little

No, after looking up the part# it is a set of bolts that adjust the pinion via the stock control arms somehow. I really don't get it but it must work to a degree (pun unintended).

anybody got a diagram that would explain this?

Seems like adjustable upper rear control arms would be better.

Shims would be for use with leaf springs, I don't think there is anything you could shim on a coil sprung axle.

I have it on a TJ i bought ... doesnt have anything else but shocks and coils that i can tell

You dont need the transfer case drop so dont put it on. It just takes away the clearance you gained at the belly.

Thanks for the info guys, as to the procomp shocks that came with it, the ES3000 I believe, stiff as can be, and I just noticed what everyone says about them now. Oh well looks like I'll have a set to sell if anyones interested. In the meantime, whats the best soft shock for a 2" lift? I know they should be hydraulic not gas, I thought about the rancho 9000s but Id probably keep them set at 1 anyway so no point in spending the extra $. So I guess I have a choice of the Doetsch Tech 3000s, Rusty's Hydros or BDS? Any opinions? Guess it's time to get the disconnects and flex it a little to soften the coil springs

BDS are gas charged, I had them on a YJ and liked them, but they were a firm ride.

That pinion angle doohikkie is called a cam bolt, adjusts the position of the control arm to change pinion angle, or caster on a front axle.

Yes, the ES3000's suck. Stick with DT3000's or Rusty's Hydros. The DT's have a better finish on them from what I've seen personally. Only about $32 each at www.rubiconexpress.com . You can usually get RE prices with free shipping at www.jeepin.com , and Jason is good to deal with.

you need nothing but the Springs and Shocks. You will prolly get Bump-stop extentions but that should be all.
