I HAVE A 95 WRANGLER 2.5 W/ MANUAL TRANS. ON DECEL, REALLY IN ANY GEAR, IT POPS BACK OUT THE TAILPIPE. EXHAUST IS NEW AND OXYGEN SENSOR IS NEW. IF I UNPLUG THE MAP SENSOR IT GOES AWAY. I TAKE THAT IT IS RUNNING LEAN BUT NOT SURE WHAT TO DO . ANY IDEAS?[addsig]

Check your timing and for any holes in the exhaust. You may want to take it in somewhere that has a scanner and see if it is, in fact, running rich or lean.[addsig]

You may also want to check and make sure that your exhaust manifold is tight and that all of your clamps are providing a good seal. An exhaust leak can cause you to pop as well.

Anytime I´m trouble shooting a miss or pop in a Jeep I head for the distributor cap they have a tendancy to grow green stuff in there. The next thing is to take a good plug wire and try it out one cylinder at a time, to see if there is any improvement. Then after a moderate drive on the interstate I´ll pull a plug or two and check the color, bone white is to lean, grey white is a good burn. Then I´ll go looking for vacuum leaks, good eyes, good nerves and lots of time required. Always check the bottom of the exhaust manifold, water splashes up there and can cause small cracks and leaks almost impossible to see or find except on a really cold morning. A couple of loads of injector/carb cleaner sometimes helps, can´t really hurt anything. Motor always seems to run a little smoother afterwords. Then comes the hard stuff, like gummed up carb or leaky valves. I´ve rarley heard anybody mention loose timing chains with Jeep motors, but a couple of other manufactures have a wear problem, on older motors and can cause real problems especialy when decelerating. Hope I´ve helped some.[addsig]

Thanks for the help everybody. the previous owner had a Walker muffler on there. I replaced it with OEM and the pop was gone. Thanks again!
