painless dual battery kit

blown XJ

has anyone used the painless wiring dual battery system Part# 40103? im thinking about using it on my xj. i was planning on a battery in the stock location and mount the other one in the cargo area behind that back seat. i would love to hear any advice about this kit. is it worth the money? works as advertised? so on

thanks chance

I had one for years, never needed ever, personally I think it is a waste of under hood space and money.

If you're set on running two batteries, remove the stock airbox and replace it with a battery tray from a diesel XJ. Then run a high-flow airtube. More power and a good location for that second battery.

the battery tray for a diesel XJ would be pretty hard to find. i would like the dual battery because of the winch. lights. efan and subs and amp.. ect...

i was told that they cant get parts for diesel xj anymore. the stealership said they have been out of production for to many years

i got a yellow top and a mean green alternator and when i run my lights and my amp it sucks the battery down. i got two 2500 watt competition amps and a 15" competition subs

get a red top, just because the yellow top cost more, doesn't mean that it is better. the yellow top is not designed for a vehicle that is driven daily with varying draw, it is a slow discharge battery.
Red top will support your electrical system better due to it's abiity to recover from a large amperage draw
As for your stereo amps, if you are truely running 2500W you should have at least 2 farad caps on your system.

im running a dbix 6000 watt cap already. i was told the yellow top is a much better battery for hard offroad use. so thats why i got it. it was actually not much more the the stock replacement battery. i get a discount through work at a battery place here in town. i got a slightly bigger then stock yellow top for 110 bucks
