Hey all, I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 limited. Its got about 125,000 miles on it. About 2 months ago I had a sudden overheating issue which turned out to be a leak in the water pump. I replaced the pump and it ran fine for a couple weeks. Recently it started overheating again. No leaks, coolant levels are fine. Once the engine warms the temperature starts fluctuating between normal heat levels and roughly the 3/4 mark on the gauge. Hasn't gone all the way to the red but I never drive it for more than 10 minutes. The fan quickly kicks in when this happens and its sounds like a jet engine. Thermostat was replaced about 6 or 7 months ago and has been working fine so I'm doubting that has anything to do with it. I'm not much of a mechanic so I might just take it in to have it diagnosed. Figured I'd check an see if anyone has some suggestions before I do just in case it might be a relatively easy fix I can do on my own.
Also, I have intermittent start up issues. This has been happening for about 10 weeks. I'll start it and it dies quickly and I'll have to start it again. Only happens like 20% of the time. No idea if that would connect with the overheating situation but I doubt it. I'm assuming its yet another random issue. Haven't had this thing for a year yet and have only put 3000 miles on it and I cannot believe the amount of random issues I've had in that amount of time.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
