well i'm not looking for big thump to rattle my windows loose when i pull in but the stock speakers in a wrangler to me leave something to be desired so i thought a swap would help out ... but i also wanted something that wouldnt peter out on me in the mud or dampness ... so i found these infinity's which said they are rated for marine use too .. Infinity 5012i 5 1/4's for the roll bars Infinity 6412cfp 4x6 pod plate for the dash ... both shipped to the door for 71 bucks got to love the employee discount at cfield they sell for 99.00 bucks per set ... the roll bar speakers made a HUGE difference really clear great sound the front ones improved over stock but the head unit i have doesnt push enough watts to take advantage of them but i'd suggest em to anybody looking to improve a little creature comfort and if you mate them with a head unit that pushes 22watts RMS or more you should kick pretty good ... anyway thought i'd share lol 8)

Are there any out there that are weather proof? I have been rocking the same Pioneer TRX??? truck speakers since high school. Dump the water out and keep on playing.

Look into marine components. That'll be the next radio I put in my jeep, I'm sick of not having tunes anymore.

But what I have heard of people doing recently is ditching the head unit, and plugging their ipods straight into an amp that runs to their speakers. Apparently it works great, they can put it in a lockbox and its out of the way, and all their music is always there.

Sounds like a good idea, 'cept I don't have an Ipod or an amp. Guess that might work if my new Apline craps out like the last few have.

When I installed my speakers into my stock sound bar I sealed the ends and open gaps with spray in foam and wrapped the whole thing in dynamat sound deadner. Made a huge difference.

I'm a huge fan of music and as it says in my sig i actually had 2 of the new 2007 memphis pr104d subs hooked up to my 2005 memphis pr500.1d amp last night. They switched the cone to a sturdier polysomething and it looks like they'll hold up real well to the abuse my jeep goes through(once my jeep got rained on topless and my amp was sitting in about an inch of water and still works perfect over a year out from that... i love memphis gear). I'm running some cheap pioneer 4x6 in the front and 6x9 in the back but they sound good and have held up to tons of abuse(the front ones have mud stuck to the cones). When and if they ever do crap out on me i'll switch out to the memphis marine line. I've always heard good things about infiniti but have only ever heard the kappas(they were amazing!). Here's a link to the memphis site I'm a huge fan and would recommend them to anybody http://memphiscaraudio.com/... p.s.- They're american made:purple:

you can dump tunes right from your ipod or anything that has a mini jack output as long as you have a mini jack - RCA cable pretty swanky idea... ahh kappas was to much for me since i dont have an amp ... i want some more bass so i might toss in a 10" later on just depends i was going to modify the roll bar to adapt some 6.5's but too damn cold here to get indepth even in the garage LOL ... but marine components are the way to go to prevent against water

Before I took out the radio, I was running memphis 6x9's. They were made out of some woven fiber, maybe a kevlar inspired fiber... but nonethe less, they held up to some abuse.

Alright then stereo gurus...my F250 stereo has an Aux button on the front, but no jack for Aux input. Think there is one on the back that I could hook an Ipod to?
Guess I could read the owner's manual.

my clarion in-dash touch screen dvd player crapped out after being in the rain toppless about 25 times! still works 'sorta' but the touch screen partis done.....it plays movies, mp3, cd's, and radio, but i can only adjust the volume with the screen closed, and using the remote........ it's pretty tore up.

prolly on the back could be a pair of RCA inputs that you can use an RCA to mini jack adapter cable with or might be a changer port that you have to buy an adapter for ... but manual is always a good idea

Theres a cheap adaptor unit for your ford that puts a direct hook up into your incomming ant line that allows you to use your AUX button. Best buy had one for my jeep...no more FM unit...my Ipod comes nice and clear.

hey, can you send me the part info for the jeep adapter? I am looking for one too and no one seems to have them here.

That's a nifty idea but i don't like the idea of both subs sharing the same airspace. If one has a bad connection and stops working the other can and most likely will be damaged. Where would you put the amp to run the subs? Mine is under my rear seat but that wouldn't be possible with that box. Also the price is a tad high, I have a dual 10" box made to fit behind the rear seat that i got for $130. I could make it for maybe $40 now that I've gone deeper into the audio world. I've designed and built custom boxes for a few of my friends if you wanna go that road i can give you some pointers.
