Not.
Mrs Pelosi:
"In more than 200 years of history, there was an established pecking order -- and I cut in line...

I am the most powerful woman in America," Mrs. Pelosi flexed her right muscle like a weight lifter...

"All right, let's hear it for the power," she screamed

In less than two weeks -- during the first 100 hours of official action -- they (the Democrats) vow to pass legislation implementing the September 11 panel recommendations, increasing the minimum wage, expanding stem-cell research, allowing the government to negotiate prices for prescription drugs, cutting interest rates on student loans and ending subsidies for oil companies while expanding renewable energy exploration.

I'm okay with the student loan rates going down, but the minimum wage just went up.

Nothing, NOTHING, has ever been solved from embrionic stem cell research. The progress in research has all come from other sources of stem cells like umbilical cords. "expanding" means embrionic funding and approval which is purely political and not beneficial. Why not put the time and money into what works instead?!?!?!

Although prescription drugs are too high, I balk at the government having any role in negotiating prices in anything as it hinders quality and free enterprise. It is never a good thing.

Ending subsidies for oil companies means we won't be drilling or spending money to become less dependant on foreign oil. "Expanding renewable energy exploration" is great for many uses but our automobiles and the trucking industry need oil and the fuel it produces. If we keep relying on the middle east... well this does not need explaining :( . I'm all for alternative fuels but the oil is an issue that needs immediate attention not subsidy cuts.

As for the 9/11 commission's recommendations... I just don't know.

The Democrats are at the gate... AND THEY'RE OFF!!!

It's going to be a wild one race fans :x

From Steny:
we need to become environmentally sensitive in our use of energy as the 60 degree weather today points out," he said. "I live 80 feet from a river, and in January, I have 60 degree weather and I am convinced that 20 years from now, my house is going to be under the river, not on the river. So I am very concerned about that, and we are as a party."
