i have an 89 jeep cherokee xj with the 4.0 in it. it has a borla header and cat back exhaust a custom made k&n air tube. i took it threw a little water/ mud hole yesterday. it didnt get any water in the motor i dont think at least. it ran ok for about 2 miles then it let out a huge back fire and it wont start now. any ideas on want happened, clues on where to start looking for the problem?? any help will be greatly appreiated..

Take off your distributor cap, spray it all over the inside with WD 40, shake it out real good and put it back on.

thank you i tried that last nite and i also put new spark plugs in and she fired and ran like new. the distrudtor had at least a half of cup of water in it.

thanks again for the help

No problem. Always keep a can of WD-40 and a phillips head in the Jeep if you're out playin in water. 9 times out of ten, this is the problem. If water hits the cap, it condenses on the inside and sparks can't arc to the correct terminals to fire properly.
