liberty engine light

Just got this thing about a month ago. I really like it, but I have had the engine light come on three times. First was the second day I had it, it needed the heater core flushed out and after I got it all back together the engine light was on and ran like crap, some how I screwed up a coil. about a week later the engine light came on again but there was no difference in how it felt or ran. I disconnected the BAT to reset computer and all was fine for about another week or two, the light came on again last night.. I cant tell any change in how it runs, im going to have the code read after work today, but thought I would see if you guys knew of anything this may be? Thanks and I will post the code once I get It read. Oh, its a 2005 ,2wd, 3.7, auto

You should've able to turn the key on and off three times ending at "on" without starting the vehicle. The codes should show I the odometer.

keep up with the cooling system on that engine. they are known for not making it to far passed 110k miles before self destructing. lots of stories all over the net about the issues with that engine. its a bummer because its a peppy engine. i loved our 02 liberty but when we lost the engine and had it fixed, cristina said she didn;t trust it on trips anymore so it went to a new family

Well, I had the code read. Don't remember the exact code, but it was running lean and the computer at the auto store said "no recommended service available at this time" the parts guy said I probably got some bad gas and it may clear itself, Well about two hours later it did.. light is off.. Thanks for the warning on the engine, and yes I like it, it is peppy as stated. You wont believe the miles on it though.... how about 276,ooo and it looks, runs and sounds brand new (no exaggeration). I have thought about doing a car fax on it just to see if the motor has been replaced because it runs so freaking smooth and quiet. glad the engine light was nothing major. It does use about a half a qrt of oil every other week, but other than that im happy.. thanks again for the help.

nice!! yours is good if its already passed 150k. you won't have to worry. the story was if they make it passed 150k miles then you got one that will last.

That's good.. and thanks for the heads up. The miles do concern me a bit, but it was the best looking and running thing in my price range which was pretty low, lol. Time will tell! I am curious how long the engine will make it, that is a lot of miles, don't think I have ever owned a car with that many miles on it... Ill let ya,s know if it dies and at what miles it died at. so far im loving it! The cj is still down, im having the toughest time with the hydraulic clutch conversion, cant get enough travel from the slave I think.
