8-) My T-case is leaking from the rear output oil seal onto the front U-joint of the rear drive shaft. I plan on replacing the rear oil seal and the rear mainshaft bushing inside of the rear extension housing. Has anyone completed theis repair? If you have, did you encounter any difficulties? Any advice or comments would be useful. Thanks!! :-D [addsig]

To replace the bushing it requires a special tool. I too had to do this luckily I had a friend that worked at a dealership and had access to this tool. The actuall seal is easy and either use a socket the fits nicely around the outer edge or there is also a special took for this. Don't forget to put grease on the inside of the rubber lip of the seal, this will help keep the seal from leaking. Hope this Helps ya Evan[addsig]

:-) It does help, thanks. I guess to avoid having to purchase the bushing removal tool, i could just purchase the rear extension housing that comes with the bushing already included. That way I won't have to worry about removing the old one. One other thing, is it a messy job? Will I have to empty the T-case first? [addsig]

No it's not that messy maybe a drop here and a drop there, but if has been leaking for awhile make sure you check the fluid level before you head back down the road. Also make sure to use RTV when you put the housing back on. [addsig]

:-D Roger that. I'll be making the order today. It sounds like a no-brainer. Of course, thats what everyone says prior to starting any project on their jeep.  [addsig]
