im looking for some tires to put on a 2006 rubicon, im gonna get some aftermarket rims with about 4 inch backspacing. from what ive been reading its looking like i can get a 32x11.50 on there with no rubbing or spacing? appreciate the help guys

no idea but isn;t that almost what size the stock tires are?

the stock tires are about 31x10.50 from what im reading, i just was curious if having less backspacing would allow me to fit a little larger tire without rubbing, like a 32x11.50

i think less back spacing would let your tire rub the springs. how much space is between the inside of the tire and the outer edge of the coil spring? sometimes, that space is small

Man I have no clue lol. I thought less backspacing would.move it further away

I believe you want 4.5 in of backspacing for 11.5 tires. The stock BS is 4.5 in. Where to look for rubbing is on the sway bar at full turn.
Besides rubbing there you need to be aware of how much clearance you have when the spring compresses. Without a lift you may rub the fender.

Stock:
* Goodyear Wrangler MT/R LT245/75R16 (30.5"x9.6") Tires
* 16x8, five-spoke aluminum wheels 5 in Backspacing 4 on 5.5
No rubbing no mod same wheels
31X10.5X16

Go wider you'll need 4.5 I had the wrong # earlier and fixed it. If not you'll rub the swaybar.
Go taller and you'll rub the sway bar the inside fenders when flexing. 3.4 to 4.5 backspacing and bump stops or body lift or 2 in lift.

There are threads on here you could crawl for more ideas.

How much sheet metal are you willing to cut?

If not, you can install bump stop extensions for a 2.5-3.5" lift and adjustable lower and upper control arms, you can run up to 35's on stock springs. Depending on the back spacing, it might rub on the LCA, but that is really not an issue. you will have to lengthen your wheel base by about 1" front and 1.5-2" rear
