It Won't Start!!!

I went out to the parking lot today and my 97 TJ 4 banger wouldn't turnkey start. I didn't have any electrical. We jumped it, it started but wouldn't idle and just died. Then it wouldn't even do that, just the starter clicked and nothing more. I second gear started it and it started and idled just fine. I got it home turned it off and tried turnkey starting it agian, and nothing, not even the starter click. I think it might be the battery just being totally dead. Any ideas or suggestions? I still have my CJ-5 to drive but with no top and the weather turning to the cold side, I need this fixed as soon as possible. Thanks

check your alt. sounds like its not charging the battery

Take the battery to AutoZone and have them charge oit (free) and then test it. If the battery is good, then you can put it back on and have Autozone test you alternator on your Jeep. All you have to do is drive your Jeep with the fresh battery and they will be able to test it.-al
