A friend just bought a '68 CJ5 project. He asked me if it was a six volt, I wasn't sure. Anybody know? It has the 4cyl in it, are these good engines? Any problems to look for?

It shoud be labeled on the voltage regulator....if not. If it turns over. Spin it over. An check the voltage at the regulator with an amp meter. Or at the battery!!

It didn't have a battery, this one was headed to the crusher. My friend got it and one that's a little later model both for $400. I just glanced at it but I didn't see a rust hole in this thing. It doesn't run, gonna see if we can get to run today. The one for parts is pretty rough, but it does have a spare 4cyl.

I believe 1957 was the last year for the 6v. There may have been some later 6v as an option of some kind, but every "68 CJ5 I've ever seen was 12v.
