installed header , now have a fast idle

I have a 95 yj 2.5 liter, 5 spd, fuel injected and I installed a header on it , now I have a high idle situation and I mean about 3000 rpm, I was told it may be the o2 sensor giving bad readings due to being located on the collector. Please help ...any ideas or tricks to fix this would be great. My E mail is Duffus1@twmi.rr.com

Idle is controlled by the AIC sensor on the pass. side of the throttle body. Remove the sensor and clean the AIC housing and throttle body with carb cleaner and a tooth brush.

o2 sensor will not cause the problem, it's getting the same sample as it did with the stock exhaust.

What brand header, how do you like it? Any problems with the install?

I put on a pacesetter header , it sounds like a british sport car and I dont like it but it is idling at about 3000rpm. Do you think it may be possible to have a air leak on the intake manifold and cause this hi rpm ?

Bounty__Hunter,
The header when on a bit rough, I had to trim the flange at the rear and remove the connector bar between #1 cyl. and # 2 cyl. tube. , remove the intake, the front drive shaft , And this header comes with 2 o2 ports and an old J8 spark plug fit the hole nicely, I would say it took me about 7 hrs. with water breaks and chasing down my kids. I am truley stumped on the fast idle , before the header it ran perfect , I should have left it alone.

Bounty is right about the AIC sensor. You might even need a new one. The header should have nothing to do with the idle.

I've heard the PaceSetter header takes quite a bit of work to install, thanks for the details.

What muffler and converter do you have?

I took the header and intake off and bought a new gasket and sure enough the pacesetter header did not seat right , I with to autozone and bought a stock gasket wala problem solved.

If it was simple, it would not be fun

take the header back off and make sure u scrape away all the casket on the head i had the same problem theres probably a little gasket left somewhere causing a big air leak it took me a day to figure it out and i didnt figure it out till i went to take it off and send it back to pacesetter and tell them there header was a POS. hahaha
