I need advice on the air cleaner assembly for straight six

I jsut bought a new aluminum valve cover form 4wd hardware for my 84 cj7 and I want to buy a K&N air cleaner assembly for the jeep too... but I dont know what kind of modifications if any I have to make to install the air cleaner assembly to replace the old air cleaner I purchased the rocker arm bridges for the valve cover so I m pretty shure that parts taken care of I just need some "HOW TO" on the air cleaner assembly its gonna either be the 9'' or the 7'' assembly with a 2 5/8'' neck flange ....Im trin to clean up alot of the access stuff under the hood. What about a straight replacement K&N filter for your existing filter? You won't need any mods. Or are you talking about getting an airtube with a cone filter on the end?
