I dont know if you ever saw my post the other day, so I thought I would throw this out here again. You told me about the i think it was CCV system on the jeep the other day. And you said there should be a small orifice where the vacuum hose meets the valve cover. Well I went out a couple days ago and checked for this hole, and there wasnt one. Now if it was just my whole problem with the oil seeming to come out of the pan under more pressure then usual i wouldnt worry about it. But you said that it can cause blown seals and i dont want any of that. So if you could kinda tell me a little more about this and all Id appreciate.

I don't have a TJ, but I have a 4.0 in my 2000 XJ, and it should be the same...

Yank off the plastic elbow that fits into the rear valve cover hole. It won't be real easy to get out, and I usually end up getting the grommet with it. Be careful, because if you break it, you can only get a replacement at the dealer and they are about 12 bucks I think. (I broke my friend's.) There is a small hole on the bottom surface of the end that fits inside the valve cover grommet. This should be clear. Mine always has been, but I hear you can clear it out using just a paperclip if you need to.

if you open your oil fill cap.. there will be no pressure whatsoever in the crank case... it will relieve it all right away... so the pressure theory in the oil drain due to crank pressure is likely only a worrying guess...

Sorry... I just realized you have a 4 cyl. I know nothing about those.

Standing in front of your engine, look for a hose going into the valve cover towards the front on the right side. Yours may be a little different being a TJ, but it's the line coming from the airbox. Pull this hose from the valve cover and see if there is a brass fitting right there. If it is, pull it out and clean it.

The older jeeps have a plastic splice in the same hose, and the small orifice that easily clogs is in this splice.
