Help!!! Transmission issue with my CJ

Hey guys,
I have a 82 CJ-7 with a 4spd. Every few months it will get stuck in 1st gear. I have pulled and pulled on the shifter, oiled and siliconed under the gear boot with no luck. A local transmission shop freed it and didnt charge me anything. The second time it happed I had other issues that needed to be addressed and it was towed to my jeep mechanic. They freed it also with charging me. Does anyone have any ideas on how to break it loose?

Take off the shifter housing on top of the transmission and make sure nothing is bent, broken, or seized. That's it alot of times.
