I recently took my 88 wrangler to a friends to have him redo all my vacuum lines. They havn't been right since I've owned it. (1 1/2 years) It sat at his house for 2 weeks before he could get to it. When he went to crank it, he said it backfired (which it has never done) and caught fire. When I went to see it, it looked like the fuel line had blown or popped off. Luckily, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be because he got the fire out fairly quick. Most of the electrical stuff on the carb side is about half melted. The wires look okay, but most of the plugs were starting to melt. Looks like anything on that side that was plastic or rubber will have to be replaced. My question is, does anyone make any aftermarket electrical connectors/ harnesses for this, or will I have to search the salvage yards? Can you still get any of this from the dealer? Has anyone been through this before, and how did you go about the repair? I paint cars for a living and am fairly mechanical so I plan on doing this myself so any feedback I can get would be much appreciated.
Thganks a bunch,
