i'm with tug on this one. i mean i've got leather too y2k, but they sure arent heated! haha, my jeep has a lot of nature inside it too, branches, leaves, and mud all over the place, dont let the leather fool you!

umm....sorry what was the original question?

Snow's coming! Who can HELP me out?

Sorry for the above man! Other than the waire and or heating element not sure what to tel you to look at. Got out the ol ohm / volt meter and start to probe the system and find the break. My guess is it is the element and it has a break in it some place. How you fix it is anyones guess. sorry again to have been goofing on you over the warm ride! tug

Not sure what the problem is there...but I wanted to come to your aid. I too have heated seats and they are FANTASTIC. Esspecially when coming in from a day of skiing. All the haters are just jealous.

Thanks Judge....I have the heated seats hooked up to my auto starter so that If I push the trunk button on the remote it turns on my seat. If I push the lock and unlock at the same time it turns on the wifes seat. I think I will take an Ohm meter and see if I can get a reading....This should tell me if the coil in the seat is broken or not. Other than that I will test each switch to see if they operate in the same manner. I looked at swapping the switches, but they are moulded different which doesn't allow the adapters to fit. I'll let guys know when and if I figure it out.

im about to get a set of seats out of a volvo that are heated, theyre cloth tho so i dont kno if imma do it or not

speaking of volvos anyone kno which models have the 210 compressor

The switch for was blinking on the high setting. According to the dealership this means that the element is broken. They are trying to tell me that it is only available as a complete cushion assembly, worth $1200.00!!! Any of you guys know if the element can be repaired or a good place to get a new one?

Damn $1200....sounds like you would be better off trying to find a seat at a Pick-n-pull or something like that.

Bypass ??

Good news, I just pulled the seat, removed the plastic cover, undid the plastic clips holding down the leather, and got access to the wires. I noticed that the foam around one of the wires was burnt. Closer inspection showed that the wire was broken. I removed the small piece of wire and re soldered the piece that continues into the upholstry. Re installed the seat and everything is good!

Baked beans and fried onions can be a cheap substitute for replacing expensive parts to heated seats.

Nice big bowl of 5 alarm chili works good too.

I dont know about that TC. You should see the fights for the passenger front seat when we are coming off the mountain from a day of skiing/boarding. 3 guys who were dead on their feet after the last run are now sprinting across the parking lot with their gear. A toasty rump when your freezing is very satisfying.

just to clear things up, i'm not a hater on the heated seats out of jealousy. i valet cars, and people come in all the time with their heated seats on and i cant stand it. i understand that it would be very nice to have them on those cold mornings, but the cold doesnt really bother me. i've lived in new england my whole life, i've played hockey in 10 degree weather, hell, sometimes in the dead of winter i sleep with my window wide open. so enjoy your heated seats my friends, i have nothing against them, just know that the only way i will ever own them, is if its a standard option, and not an add on.

I was more referring to the effects of eating the above mentioned foods and the fact that they could heat the seats up in an, um, unconventional manner. IT WAS A JOKE

Besides, that method wouldn't work well with passengers in the vehicle

Non-heated seats are from Panseys. Real men come out of freezing weather and get those asses warm.

Anywhoo, I think that if I lived in Canada, I'd have some heated seats as well. Hell, I'd like some and I live in New Mexico.

Well I am originally from Mass and the summers here in MD are sweltering. I am one of the few Marylanders that actually looks forward to winter. Winter here is nothin' like a good cold snowy New England winter. I've never really wanted heated seats, but after Graewulf's thread I'm considering a remote start.

I have a friend with a Tahoe and the heaters in the passenger seat got stuck on in the middle of summer. Man, that sure made people not want to ride with him for a while!

I personally like them for about the first 30 seconds (at the most) then I've got to turn them off. Of course, our winters here aren't that bad at all...so that makes a difference.
