Hey all - just stumbled across the forum, and it's great.
I've got a '95 ZJ with the 5.2 V8. I'm having to replace the heads, so I figure now's as good as time as any to get around to some mods that I've wanted to do 8)
I want to put in a K&N Cold Air Intake, and new exhaust with some headers. The problem: all of the reasonably priced headers I can find are for the '97 and later 5.2 engine. Are these incompatible with the '95 model year, and if so, why? I've heard that there's a difference in the EGR system between the '95's and '97's. Is that the only difference, and how hard is it to get around it? And does anyone know of a good place to find headers that are specific for the '95?
Also, aside from letting the engine breathe, are there any other mods for better performance and/or mileage that are worth the time/money? I looked into some of the fancy ignition systems ... but they seem to be little bang for a lot of buck. I'm spending $400 for the heads, and have almost $1000 left in "mad money" to spend on the rest.
The ZJ's my daily driver, with a good mix of city stop-n-go and Interstate cruising. I take it up forest roads pretty frequently, and do a lot fo camping, but as of right now I'm not too interested in lifting it, because I'd rather not sacrifice it's road manners, and it's more than able to handle what I throw at it in stock form.
